Timer for StreamYard
StreamYard has no built-in timer. Give your guest a real countdown.
The guest opens the stage link. The host runs the countdown and private cues from a separate control link, alongside StreamYard's own broadcast studio.

RunCue
Keep a live countdown instead of a pre-recorded timer clip.
RunCue works alongside StreamYard in a separate browser tab. It does not install as a StreamYard integration or access your account, stream, or guest data.
Compare timers
Choose the setup that matches who needs to see and control the timer.
| Timer | Speaker visibility | Producer control | Cue context | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| StreamYard countdown | Only if a pre-made countdown video clip is played on screen | No timer control panel; only Video Clips playback | No cue notes; a video clip is not interactive | A pre-stream waiting screen using an uploaded countdown video |
| RunCue browser room | Separate stage and audience links, private to the guest | Separate control link that stays with the host, nothing to install | Private producer cue cards across multiple segments | Host-led StreamYard broadcasts with a run of show and a guest who needs a live, adjustable countdown |

FAQ
Using RunCue with StreamYard
Does StreamYard have a built-in countdown timer?
No. StreamYard's help center only documents uploading a pre-made countdown video as one of several Video Clips assets you can play — there's no live, running countdown clock, and its roles articles never mention a timer capability for Admin, Creator, Cohost, or Guest.
Can a StreamYard guest see their own live countdown?
Not through StreamYard itself. The closest built-in option is playing a fixed-length countdown video clip, which can't be paused, adjusted, or handed private cues the way a live timer can.
Why use RunCue beside StreamYard?
Use RunCue when your guest needs a real, adjustable live countdown and the host wants private cue notes across multiple segments — independent of StreamYard's video-clip-only workaround.
Does RunCue connect to my StreamYard account?
No. RunCue runs in a separate browser tab and does not access your StreamYard account, stream, or guest data.
Is there a trial?
Yes — and there's no rush to set it up. You get up to 7 days to build the run of show before any clock starts; the 15-minute live trial begins only once you press Start, and it includes the live timer, separate role links, cues, Reset, and segment editing before the room locks.
